I started out as a very self-conscious individual, afraid to look at herself in the mirror, afraid of doing anything to draw attention to her. Then, I discovered theatre. I realized that being on stage was what I wanted to do, no matter the cost. I was then cast into the most moving and incredible production of Animal Farm as Squealer by a director who saw my passion and my de sire to be great. This director has been such an influence in my life and, even as a college student, his understanding and guidance is unparalleled to anyone I have ever worked with before. He cultivated my skills and pushed me to go farther than I ever thought possible. He taught me not to be myself playing the role, but to become the role, a skill many accomplished actors still have difficulty with. He was always incredibly patient when I was near tears because I would have to call for a line and would bolster my confidence. Because of him, I grew as an actor and as a person. I gained confidence in my abilities in the theatre and in real life. I discovered my ability to fill a space with my presence and command an audience with my voice. In my life, I have met very few people that have had such a massive impact on me as he has and I consider myself honored to have been able to work with him. So, even though I may give my humanity to the art, he showed me that the art can give ba ck so much more.

Un-Victorian Tenets of Browning in Karshish Browning's Karshish Robert Browning's ?An Epistle Containing the Strange Medical Experience of Karshish, the Arab Physician? is a dramatic monologue in which Karshish writes to Abib about his experiencing the miracle of Jesus, when he raises Lazarus from the dead. ?Karshish? is a dramatic monologue containing most of the tenets of Browning. Although ?Karshish? is in the form of a letter, it is still an excellent example of a dramatic monologue. There is a speaker, Karshish, who is not the poet. There is a silent audience, Abib the reader of the letter. There is a mental exchange between the speaker and the audience: Karshish writes as if Abib were right in front of him listening to everything. This can be seen in the hang between ?here I end? and ?yet stay;? it is as if Abib were getting up to leave (61-2). There is a distinct critical moment, when Karshish decides to write about his original concern: ?Yet stay. . . I half resolve to tell thee, yet I blush/ What set me off a-writing first of all? (62, 65-6). ?Karshish? has all the basics to a dramatic monologue. It also contains a character study in which the speaker speaks from an extraordinary perspective. Karshish is a humble doctor from one of the most civilized nations of the time, he has seen most of the civilized world, and he is still amazed by the miracle that he witnessed. His amazement after having seen many great things in the world proves to the audience that this event was indeed spectacular and significant. In the non-Christian world, the most common response is to doubt and to reject, but because of the conviction of the speaker the audience believe that the miracle did happen. This contrast between doubt and believe creates the dramatic tension of the work. Thus, ?Karshish? contains the character study and dramatic tension which make the work a dramatic monologue. ?Karshish? contains many of the tenets of Browning. One of first tenets noticed is the idea that physical success in this life does not correspond to success in the next. This can be seen in the peaceful ?carelessness? seen in Lazarus after being raised from the dead despite the knowledge of the Roman troops coming to conquer his people, the Jews. Another obvious tenet is the belief that feeling is superior to reason: Browning also shows that power, glory, and pride are insignificant in comparison with love, because love is for ?both old and young, able and weak, affects the very brutes and birds? (227- 9). Another tenet of Browning is the intuitive belief in Christianity and that sufferings are for the education of the soul. This is present in Karshish in that he suffers much but does expound upon them because he accepts them as the education of his soul: I have shed sweat enough, left flesh and bone on many a flinty furlong of this land. ?Twice have the robbers stripped and beaten me and once in town declared me for a spy But at the end, I reach Jerusalem. (24-34) This also contains the tenet: need of perseverance. This shown in his willingness to undergo all of these pains for his final goal. Browning portrayed a sense of infinite moment in which life is measured by the intensity of one's existence. This is seen in the way that Karshish admires Lazarus's composure after being raised from the dead: Whence has the man the balm that brightens all? This grown man eyes the world now like a child. (116-7) Despite how Karshish is ?curious in God's handiwork,? truth is difficult to obtain because of its elusive nature. Truth's elusiveness is seen in Karshish's inability to determine scientifically what happened in the miracle brought about by Jesus. In turn, Karshish's inability causes him frustration: ?Tis but a case of mania?subinduced by epilepsy, at the turning-point of trance prolonged unduly some three days: When, by the exhibition of some drug Or spell, excorization, stroke of art Unknown to me and which ?twere well to know, The evil thing o ut-breaking all at once. There are three vital motives why the Food and Drug Administration must regulate the process of food. First, without stricter regulation, the quality of the livestock industry will steeply decline.Second, if not regulated, the high usage of high fructose corn syrup will continue to increase. Lastly, if the Food and Drug Administration does not regulate the process of food, the creation of genetically modified food will continue to occur. In all, the Food and Drug Administration must strictly regulate the livestock industry to preserve health of America. The United States Food and Drug Administration must rig orously regulate animal factories to effectively maintain the safety of meat. The Food and Drug Administration cannot allow animal factories to deliberately contaminant the food supply. By allowing existing methods to continue, it puts all consumers at great risk. This establishes that factories do what ever they desire; disregarding the fatal effects it can impose on animals let alone on human heath. Animals by nature are not supposed to consume the remains of the same species; however, factories continue to do so, as it maximizes profit by utilizing all parts on an animal (They Eat What). Diseased animals, same species meat, skin, blood, manure, and unhealthy portions of grain are all items consisting in animal feed (They Eat What). Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems by William Blake "The Tiger" and "The Lamb" were poems by William Blake, a poet who lived in the 18th century. In this essay I am going to compare the two poems and examine links between them relating to rhymes, patterns and words used. Blake's background relates on the poems he wrote, and many of his works reflected his early home life. Blake in his childhood was an outcast, a loner, and didn't have many friends. His family believed very strongly in God and were extremely pious Christians but did not agree with the teachings of the church, so young William Blake often was made to think about God and his teachings during his studies. Because his parents were rebels against the Church of England, and most schools were affiliated with the Church in those days, Blake was made to find education somewhere else. He was educated from home by his parents, a practise not done much nowadays. Blake found he had a lot of free time to think about his many ideas, his poetry, life and the like, and also found that he had a very strong imagination. In his poems, many biblical and religious undertones are found as he often wove double meanings into his works. By the time he was an adult his active imagination allowed him to create vivid poetry and paintings, like the paintings that have recently been displayed at the National Gallery. Blake's most famous books of poems are entitled "Songs of Experience" and "Songs of Innocence", and the two most famous poems from these two books are the ones I am comparing in this essay. Poems from the "Songs of Experience" are all about the type of God who brought all the evil and suffering into the world, the vengeful God w... ... So it too is like a dream, and a fantasy, and it is also a sign of hope and peace, because in those days the industrial revolution was taking place and fields and open space would be disappearing. "The Lamb" is obviously a poem of questions - the main difference form "The Tiger" being that "The Lamb" provides the answers for the reader and the metaphorical lamb in the second verse, whilst the latter's questions remain unanswered. I personally feel that the poem is asking one main question that is "Did he who made the Lamb make thee?"

Why Teaching is Fun
Full Disclosure: Inspiration can come from anywhere. This morning I was telling my seven-year-old son that I had to write an article. I told him that I did not even know what I was going to write about. He immediately said, ââ¬Å"Why donââ¬â¢t you write about why teaching is fun.â⬠Thank you Kaden for inspiring me! Teaching is fun! If you are a teacher and do not generally agree with that statement, then perhaps it is time for you to find another career choice. I would agree that there are days when fun is not a word I would use to describe my profession. There are times when teaching is frustrating, disappointing, and disheartening. However, generally speaking, it is a fun profession for many reasons. Teaching is funâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦because no two days are the same. Each day brings a different challenge and a different outcome. Even after teaching for twenty years, the next day will present something you havenââ¬â¢t seen before.Teaching is funâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦because you get to see those ââ¬Å"light bulbâ⬠moments. That is the moment where everything just clicks for a student. It is fun to get out of the classroom from time to time. They often hang on your every word. In their eyes, you can do no wrong.
